    About the role#

    As a Central Processing Technician Extern, you will gain hands-on experience in the cleaning, decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of medical instruments. You will support surgical services and other hospital departments by ensuring that sterile goods are ready for use. This is a full-time, on-site role based in South Carolina.

    What you'll do#

    • Transport instruments and equipment to the decontamination area.
    • Operate specialized equipment including sonic cleaners, washer disinfectors, cart washers, Sterrad sterilizers, and steam sterilizers.
    • Inspect, wrap, and assemble instrument baskets and containers.
    • Unload cooling racks and store processed instruments.
    • Pick surgical cases and issue sterile goods to staff.
    • Distribute supplies throughout the facility in a timely manner.
    • Maintain a clean work environment and report any equipment or instrument issues to your supervisor.
    • Attend meetings and participate in required education or in-service training.
    • Follow all standard precautions and maintain consistent, punctual attendance.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited Central Processing Technician program.
    • A High School diploma or GED.
    • Commitment to obtaining certification upon completion of your program and 400 clinical hours.
