About the role#
McDermott International, Ltd is seeking an Instrumentation and Control System Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in Houston, Texas. You will join a project team to learn about the systems that control, monitor, and safely shut down process plants. This is a full-time, on-site role for students nearing the end of their degree.
What you'll do#
- Support the review of project P&IDs and instrument indexes.
- Develop and review instrument datasheets, I/O lists, alarm lists, and Cause & Effect charts for safety logic.
- Assist with instrumentation procurement activities.
- Perform research, data analysis, and present findings.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects.
- Create, edit, and format technical documents, reports, and presentations.
- Participate in team meetings, take notes, and track action points.
- Handle daily administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and organizing materials.
- Respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Graduation status within one or two semesters.
- Eligibility to work in the United States as a citizen or green-card holder.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems like PLCs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and communication skills.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and organize tasks effectively.
- A growth mindset with a willingness to learn and accept feedback.
