Intern - Pharmacy

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will assist pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients. This role involves performing pharmacy technician duties, managing medication inventories, and supporting the training of new staff. You will work within established systems to ensure the accurate and efficient delivery of medications to patient care areas.

What you'll do#

• Gather, label, and distribute medications accurately.
• Package, prepare, and compound medications, including hazardous substances.
• Handle and distribute controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies.
• Assist with drug diversion surveillance and maintain accurate medication inventories.
• Communicate effectively using established systems and processes.
• Assist in training new pharmacy staff.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment as a full-time student in good standing, having completed the first P1 semester of an accredited U.S. Doctor of Pharmacy program.
• Alternatively, Foreign Pharmacy Graduates who have achieved FPGEC certification through the NABP will be considered.
• Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain any required state registration or certification as a pharmacist intern throughout employment.
• Foreign Pharmacy Graduates must hold and maintain a valid FPGEC certificate.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize critical tasks.
• Verbal and written communication skills to provide quality customer service.
