About the role#
The Pharmacy Intern position supports pharmacists in delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves performing pharmacy technician duties, managing medication inventories, and ensuring the accurate distribution of pharmaceuticals. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting while contributing to pharmacy operations and staff training.
What you'll do#
- Assist pharmacists in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to patients.
- Gather, label, and distribute medications accurately and efficiently.
- Package, prepare, and compound medications, including hazardous substances.
- Manage and distribute controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies.
- Assist with drug diversion surveillance and maintain accurate medication inventories.
- Support the training of new pharmacy staff.
- Communicate effectively using established systems and processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in good standing, having completed the first P1 semester of an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program in the U.S.
- Alternatively, Foreign Pharmacy Graduates who have achieved FPGEC certification through the NABP will be considered.
- Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
- Must obtain and maintain any required pharmacist intern registration or certification as mandated by the state Board of Pharmacy.
- Foreign Pharmacy Graduates must hold and maintain an FPGEC certificate.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks for timely delivery.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication to provide quality customer service.
