About the role#
The Process Improvement Intern will support the leadership team in optimizing hospital operations. This role focuses on applying Lean methodologies to improve patient flow, staff workflows, and overall service quality. You will work directly with clinical staff, therapy teams, and leadership to identify bottlenecks and implement sustainable solutions.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing A3 reports to document root cause analysis and propose countermeasures.
- Conduct Gemba walks and waste identification sessions across various departments.
- Perform time-and-motion studies to establish productivity baselines.
- Create current-state and future-state maps to visualize healthcare processes.
- Design and implement visual cues, dashboards, and huddle boards to improve communication.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to validate findings and improve service quality.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited program for Industrial Engineering, Industrial Operations, or Healthcare Administration.
- Strong self-motivation and an interest in Lean methodologies and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a clinical environment.
