About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the Human Resources Department at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. You will assist with daily tasks and projects related to compliance, recruiting, benefits, and administration. This role focuses on education and training to help you gain practical knowledge in the field of Human Resources.
What you'll do#
- Support the HR team with daily projects and administrative tasks.
- Assist with benefit enrollment, paycheck print requests, and 403b fee notice mailings.
- Help with job description updates and system audits.
- Provide front desk coverage and organize employee files.
- Coordinate employee activities, including newsletters and events.
- Identify problems and contribute to solutions while monitoring customer service standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program for Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to create graphs, forms, and databases while summarizing results.
- Strong language, spelling, and grammar skills with the ability to proof business documents.
- Experience with internet, web, and social networking tools.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changes.
- Strong interpersonal and telephone communication skills.
- Initiative, responsibility, and a willingness to respond to feedback.
Location & details#
- Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Full-time (20 to 40 hours per week for a 12 to 16 week period).
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. A monthly stipend may be provided to cover basic needs such as lodging, meals, and transportation.
