About the role#
This internship supports health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs across multiple plant locations, with a primary focus on operations in Dunlap, Tennessee. You will assist in identifying safety issues, implementing solutions, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role involves minimal travel, though there may be opportunities to attend training events in Michigan and other locations.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and implementation of health, safety, and environmental programs.
- Assist the Environmental Management Representative in maintaining ISO14001 standards and EMS documentation.
- Help prepare and implement disaster and emergency response plans.
- Collect and maintain data on waste management, air emissions, and other environmental performance metrics.
- Coordinate and facilitate safety and environmental training for staff.
- Identify potential hazards and participate in safety committee activities.
- Assist with maintaining environmental records and understanding government reporting requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Business, or a related field.
- Ability to work 20 to 29 hours per week.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerBI.
- Comfort presenting information to leadership teams.
