About the role#
Magellan Aerospace is seeking an Operational Excellence Co-op Student for an 8 to 12 month term in Mississauga. You will use your technical background to support the operations team in identifying and facilitating improvement projects across the facility.
What you'll do#
- Investigate process improvements and automation opportunities by analyzing manufacturing processes and plant layouts.
- Collaborate with operators, production supervisors, managers, and maintenance personnel to identify needs and solutions.
- Design and implement operational improvements with the engineering team.
- Document and finalize work instructions for new or revised processes.
- Plan and facilitate cross functional training to eliminate production bottlenecks.
- Write technical reports, maintain an open actions log, and communicate updates across the business.
- Track and present key performance indicators for operational and divisional reviews.
- Assist the maintenance department with the introduction of new machinery, including commissioning and the development of preventative maintenance programs.
- Facilitate the development of recovery plans.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as at least a 3rd year student in mechanical, mechatronics, materials metallurgy, or industrial engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidEdge and technical sketching.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and provide recommendations backed by data.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Previous co-op experience in aerospace manufacturing and exposure to AS9100 are considered assets.
