About the role#
The Substation Design Engineer Intern will support the design and development of high-voltage substations and electrical infrastructure projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain exposure to design processes, technical documentation, and project execution. This role is for students interested in power systems, renewable energy, and grid modernization.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of high-voltage substations and infrastructure.
- Prepare engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and design documentation.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and technical analyses under senior guidance.
- Research equipment and support specification development.
- Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Support protection and control, physical layout, and electrical system study activities.
- Review technical specifications, engineering standards, and project requirements.
- Assist project teams through engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
- Contribute to engineering quality initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Preferred standing as a Junior or Senior.
- Basic understanding of power systems and electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and work in a collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.
