The Engineering Intern supports the Principal Engineer by assisting with data gathering, drafting, documentation, and basic design tasks. This role provides hands-on exposure to engineering fundamentals and project workflows while contributing to active construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site walks to record existing conditions, take measurements, and organize field notes and photos.
- Assist Principal Engineers with preliminary calculations, equipment research, load inputs, and manufacturer specification comparisons.
- Update drawings, diagrams, and schedules based on engineer feedback.
- Maintain project files and documentation, including preparing meeting notes and follow-ups.
- Research codes, standards, and product information for design narratives and submittal materials.
- Assemble design packages, permit documents, and responses to field questions.
- Participate in training on engineering tools, MEP processes, and safety protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Architecture, or a related Construction field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency with computers and a willingness to learn industry-specific systems.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in construction or engineering is preferred.

- Status: Full-time, paid position at $21/hour.
- Requirements: Occasional travel to local job sites and customer facilities is required. The role involves intermittent exposure to construction site environments.
