The Student Leader Apprentice (SLA) program is a two-week leadership development experience for high school students interested in camp ministry. Participants go behind the scenes at FUGE to build leadership skills and prepare for potential future roles as camp staff. This program is unpaid and requires an on-site commitment.
What you'll do#
- Participate in leadership development activities, including a personality and leadership assessment, Bible study, and worship.
- Engage in ministry site work and recreation.
- Shadow a FUGE Camps staffer during an apprenticeship week to gain hands-on experience.
- Assist in the overall camp program by serving in various roles.
What you'll need#
- Must be a graduating or rising high school senior during the summer of the program.
- Ability to provide three specific references: one from a student minister, youth leader, or pastor; one from a Sunday School or small group teacher; and one from an adult who has known you for several years, such as a teacher, coach, or family friend.
Location & details#
- Locations: North Greenville University (Tigerville, SC) and Union University (Jackson, TN).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- The program requires a fee for meals, lodging, and materials, with travel to and from the site being the responsibility of the participant.
