The Student Leader Apprentice (SLA) program is a two-week leadership development experience for graduating or rising high school seniors. This program provides an behind-the-scenes look at camp ministry and is designed for students interested in growing in their faith and preparing for future staff leadership roles. Participation in this program is unpaid.
What you'll do#
During the first week, you will participate in leadership and personality assessments, engage in ministry sites, and take part in recreation, prayer, and worship activities. You will also study leadership development and Bible study materials. During the second week, you will shadow a FUGE Camps staff member and assist with overall camp programming to gain hands-on experience in the ministry setting.
What you'll need#
Applicants must be a graduating or rising high school senior during the summer of the program. You are required to submit three references from the following categories:
- One Student Minister, Youth Leader, or Church Pastor.
- One Sunday School/Small Group teacher or spiritual guide.
- One adult who has known you well for several years, such as a teacher, coach, or family friend.
Location & details#
This program takes place during the summer of 2027. Available locations include North Greenville University in Tigerville, SC, and Union University in Jackson, TN. The program is on-site and full-time for the duration of the two weeks.
