About the role#
The Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Internship Program 2027 provides hands-on experience in manufacturing quality. You will work on projects aligned with your academic background, receive mentorship from professionals, and gain exposure to quality systems and operational excellence. This is a 12-week, full-time program based on-site in Owatonna, Minnesota.
What you'll do#
- Assist Quality and Manufacturing teams with data collection, inspection activities, and analysis of quality issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by gathering information and developing data reports.
- Participate in manufacturing floor audits, incoming inspections, and first-article inspections.
- Help with root cause investigations and problem-solving to support product quality.
- Organize data and identify trends using Microsoft Excel to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Support quality documentation, process audits, and compliance activities.
- Complete a 12-week cross-functional summer project and present results to leadership.
- Attend team meetings to gain exposure to manufacturing operations and management processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date in 2028 or 2029.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
- Residency near Owatonna, Minnesota.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with quality systems, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma concepts, or AI tools.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
