About the role#
Liberty Mutual Canada is hiring two Underwriting Co-Op students for the Summer 2027 term. This position provides an introduction to the insurance industry and allows you to develop skills in risk selection, negotiation, and broker relations. You will work with a team to analyze risk factors and make informed decisions regarding corporate capital.
What you'll do#
- Manage a portfolio of renewal policies and work to achieve target financial metrics.
- Negotiate with brokers regarding pricing, policy terms, and sales strategies.
- Attend corporate networking events to find new business opportunities and build relationships with brokerages.
- Research businesses across various industries to identify specific risk factors.
- Evaluate financial stability, cyber security, products liability, and catastrophe exposure.
- Analyze economic factors and industry trends that impact business operations.
- Assist in the development of risk rating models.
- Generate quotes and binders within underwriting platforms.
- Monitor loss activity for individual clients and broader industry trends.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a program related to Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems effectively.
- Analytical aptitude for evaluating and interpreting data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- High attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
