About the role#
Therma is looking for a Project Engineer Intern to join our team in San Jose for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site internship focused on mechanical construction project management. You will gain experience across the full project lifecycle, from initial pre-construction tasks through final job closeout.
What you'll do#
- Support the pre-construction process, including plan reading, specification analysis, and quantity takeoffs.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of bids for mechanical construction projects.
- Review material and subcontractor quotes to help ensure accurate and competitive bid submissions.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to track project scope, schedules, and deliverables.
- Manage material ordering and procurement tracking to keep projects on schedule.
- Attend project meetings, document decisions, and track action items.
- Help with job cost reviews to support budget accuracy.
- Participate in team meetings and coordinate across different functions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
- A valid driver's license.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team, manage multiple assignments, and work with minimal supervision.
- A working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
