About the role#
This internship provides hands-on training in electrical design for the built environment. You will work alongside professional engineers to learn how to design and implement electrical systems and infrastructure. The role is a full-time, on-site position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Learn and implement electrical system basics, including power distribution, lighting, controls, and fire alarm systems.
- Support the engineering team on new construction and renovation projects.
- Produce detailed layouts, equipment details, and one-line diagrams for building electrical systems.
- Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings.
- Help with data collection and field verification.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop all aspects of a project.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, preferably as a sophomore or junior.
- Strong interest in building systems electrical engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work full-time throughout the term.
- Ability to travel locally for job site inspections and field work.
- Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred.
