About the role#
Later is looking for an AI Automation Engineer Co-op to embed within our teams and replace manual, repetitive work with AI-powered tooling. This is a hands-on role where you will contribute directly to automations that create business impact across Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Success. You will work closely with the AI Automation team to gain exposure to how AI tools, APIs, and no-code platforms solve real workflow problems.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and interview non-technical stakeholders to understand their day-to-day workflows and identify manual tasks suitable for automation.
- Build working automations and internal tools using AI-native platforms, APIs, and no-code or low-code tools.
- Wire together LLMs, agents, and prompt design patterns with existing systems to deliver workflow outcomes.
- Write clear documentation so automations can run unattended and teammates can understand the systems you build.
- Support working sessions and provide lightweight training to help colleagues use the automations you create.
- Iterate on tools based on stakeholder feedback and real-world performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related program, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building with code (Python, JavaScript, C#, or similar) and the ability to pick up new tools quickly.
- Curiosity about AI and automation, including experience experimenting with LLMs, prompt design, or no-code tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action.
- Familiarity with APIs, scripting, or automation tools like Zapier, Make, or n8n is considered a bonus.
