About the role#
Langan is hiring an Environmental Intern for the Summer 2027 term in New Haven, Connecticut. This position offers hands-on experience with technical aspects of land development projects. You will work alongside environmental leadership on site feasibility studies, field investigations, and technical reporting.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field investigations, including logging borings, collecting samples, and performing field tests.
- Monitor construction projects to evaluate compliance with job specifications.
- Prepare reports, drilling logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs.
- Analyze soil composition, terrain, and geological data using maps, drawings, and engineering plans.
- Learn to use field equipment, data management tools, and modeling software for environmental media.
- Conduct file reviews and site reconnaissance.
- Prepare laboratory data summary tables and figures.
- Identify solutions to field or laboratory problems and document the results.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
- Preference is given to students in their junior or senior year or those pursuing an MS degree.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and GIS or related environmental software.
- You possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- You can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Compensation: Paid, $23 to $30 per hour.
- Travel: May be required based on project assignments and business needs.
- Note: This is a full-time position. Langan does not provide housing or relocation assistance for interns.
