You will work on software stacks for a Pharmacogenetics Automated Interpretive Engine and a Microbiome Clinical Context Reporting platform. The position involves building enterprise APIs, developing language-generation layers for clinical narratives, and creating internal tools for science teams. You will operate under strict regulatory and compliance frameworks, including HIPAA and CLIA, while learning to manage healthcare-grade security and patient safety requirements.
What you'll do#
- Operationalize bioinformatics literature-search and report-generation pipelines into production-grade RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
- Contribute to API documentation, service contract definitions, and versioning strategies.
- Build observability, logging, and alerting into API surfaces to ensure production reliability.
- Support connectivity between interpretive engines and external partner platforms.
- Develop the language-generation layer for the PGx engine to create physician-ready clinical summaries.
- Support the dynamic report generator for the Microbiome platform to produce patient-specific dietary observations.
- Implement architectural guardrails to prevent the generation of non-approved clinical associations or prohibited diagnostic claims.
- Collaborate with PharmD, science, and regulatory teams to encode system constraints.
- Build self-service rule and literature updating workbenches for internal teams.
- Develop clinical review portals for pathologists to validate AI-generated interpretations.
- Perform full-stack feature development across backend services, API endpoints, and responsive front-end interfaces.
- Apply healthcare-grade security standards including PHI handling, encryption, and audit logging.
- Assist QA and validation engineers with testing output pathways and concordance testing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Graduate degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Bioinformatics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
