About the role#
Labcorp is seeking a Microbiology Intern to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting while working alongside professionals to support our diagnostic operations.
What you'll do#
- Shadow laboratory professionals to learn diagnostic workflows, instrumentation, and department operations.
- Assist with non-testing tasks, including specimen organization, inventory management, and workspace preparation.
- Participate in supervised mock testing, demonstrations, and basic laboratory techniques.
- Support approved laboratory projects.
- Follow all safety and compliance standard operating procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
- Interest in laboratory science and the diagnostics industry.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to follow established laboratory procedures.
- Eagerness to learn new scientific concepts and skills.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Initiative and a professional demeanor.

- Location: Birmingham, Alabama.
- Duration: 11 weeks, from June 1, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm (40 hours per week).
