About the role#
Kitware is seeking AI Research interns to join our team. You will contribute to projects focused on environmental monitoring, national security, open science, and medical computing. Interns have the opportunity to explore their own ideas to address real-world technical problems and are encouraged to publish their results in academic papers.
What you'll do#
- Develop solutions across AI fields including computer vision, natural language processing, large language models, and foundation models.
- Create algorithms for technical challenges such as object detection, classification, tracking, and 3D reconstruction from aerial imagery.
- Work on reasoning and alignment in decision-making, threat detection in cybersecurity, and video or image search.
- Contribute to open source software platforms.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Ph.D. student in Computer Science or a related AI field.
- Experience with computer vision, foundation models, machine learning, or audio processing.
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, or Tensorflow.
- A list of publications included with your resume or CV.
- Experience with large multimodal AI models involving image, text, and speech.
- A desire to publish research in premier academic conferences.
- U.S. citizenship is required due to contractual obligations.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
- You are expected to be in the office 5 days per week.
- Locations include Clifton Park, New York; Carrboro, North Carolina; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Arlington, Virginia.
- Hiring is conducted on a rolling basis.
