About the role#
Kinsale Insurance offers a paid summer internship in underwriting. This role provides exposure to the insurance industry through project work and interaction with company leaders. You will work on-site at our Richmond office for 10 weeks beginning May 24, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Research and process finance premium notices.
- Enter broker submissions with high accuracy.
- Analyze and process loss run requests from brokers and policyholders.
- Prepare and issue endorsements for audits.
- Review and assemble documentation for underwriting files.
- Complete projects to support underwriting teams.
- Participate in weekly Lunch and Learns, shadow underwriting divisions, and meet with company leadership.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.
- Strong research and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- An academic focus in risk management and insurance is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position in Richmond, Virginia.
- The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- This is a paid internship at $20 per hour.
- A credit check is part of the selection process.
