About the role#
This co-op position is based in the High Voltage Safety Testing (HVST) department within the Transmission & Distribution Technologies business area. You will join a team focused on high voltage testing for systems ranging from 1 kV to 500 kV, including transformer testing and grounding. This role requires on-site work and involves a commitment of 12 or 16 months.
What you'll do#
- Provide hands-on assistance during laboratory and field testing across multi-disciplinary facilities.
- Participate in field testing, which requires travel and occasional overnight stays.
- Assist with tool repairs, including physical tasks such as lifting and carrying test equipment.
- Perform other duties as required to support the team.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a post-secondary engineering technology program that requires a co-op placement.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, technologists, and managers.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- High level of initiative and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with database development tools such as Oracle or Microsoft Access.
- A basic understanding of workplace safety, health, and environmental hazards, or a willingness to be trained and follow established safety procedures.
