About the role#
This Electrical Engineering Co-op position within the High Voltage Safety Testing (HVST) department offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in the utility sector. You will work alongside technical experts to support testing initiatives for medium and high voltage equipment, including cables, transformers, and grounding systems.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with a team on high voltage equipment testing.
- Provide hands-on assistance during both laboratory and field-testing activities.
- Participate in field testing that may require travel and overnight stays.
- Complete special assignments as required by the department.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a post-secondary electrical engineering program.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with multi-disciplinary staff, including engineers and technologists.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully within a team environment.
- High level of initiative and professional drive.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety, health, and environmental hazards, or a willingness to be trained and follow established safety procedures.
