About the role#
The HRIS (Workday) Intern joins the Kimball Electronics Shared Services HR team. You will work within the HRIS function to support the administration, maintenance, and improvement of our Workday human capital management system. Under the guidance of the Senior HRIS Analyst, you will help ensure data accuracy and provide system support for HR, Payroll, and Benefits teams.
What you'll do#
- Support Workday data integrity by identifying discrepancies in worker status, hire dates, and assignments.
- Create and update end-user job aids, help articles, and process documentation for tasks like onboarding and absence requests.
- Build a working knowledge of core Workday functions, including job profiles, supervisory organizations, and cost centers.
- Establish relationships with key team members across HR, Payroll, and the internal Workday support team.
- Complete a summer project focused on improving a Workday process or the overall employee experience, then present your findings to HR leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college program majoring in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Business Administration, or Computer Information Technology.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, specifically with VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, sorting, and filtering.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Exposure to an HRIS or ERP system like Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or Oracle through coursework or previous work experience is preferred.
- Analytical mindset with comfort troubleshooting issues and learning new systems.
- Strong written communication skills for creating clear user guides.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is remote and operates on a rolling term.
