About the role#
As an R&D Coffee Process Engineer co-op, you will join the Coffee Operating Unit at our headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts. This role offers the chance to improve coffee manufacturing processes and contribute to the development of products enjoyed by millions. You will gain exposure to the entire lifecycle of coffee, from harvest to brewing, while working alongside R&D scientists and engineers.
What you'll do#
- Learn the manufacturing processes and equipment used to create K-cups and other coffee products.
- Participate in product development, including roasting and tasting.
- Create and execute lab, pilot, and full-scale manufacturing experiments.
- Apply technical skills in statistical analysis, food science, chemistry, and physics.
- Complete an independent project from start to finish and present your results to your team, department, and senior leaders.
- Engage in professional development through mentor support, meet and greets, and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time undergraduate program in food science, engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and adapt to changes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- A genuine interest in coffee and a drive to learn.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employer sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Burlington, Massachusetts.
- Term: July 12, 2027, to December 10, 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid, full-time (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday).
- Compensation: This is a paid position at $31 per hour, including a $5,000 sign-on bonus paid within the first 30 days of employment.
