About the role#
JTEKT North America offers a rolling Engineering Co-op and Internship program for students looking to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. This full-time role allows you to apply classroom knowledge to real-world operations in Vonore, Tennessee. You will work alongside engineers, managers, and supervisors to support projects that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
What you'll do#
- Apply engineering principles to solve manufacturing challenges.
- Contribute to scrap reduction, productivity improvements, machine builds, and quality enhancements.
- Support and refine existing equipment and processes to improve efficiency.
- Conduct engineering analysis, perform calculations, and develop technical drawings.
- Lead and support projects to meet safety, quality, and cost objectives.
- Troubleshoot issues by working closely with production teams and engineering staff.
- Engage in lean initiatives and communicate progress to team members at all levels.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering. Junior or senior-level students are preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
- Strong initiative, accuracy, and a proactive approach to your work.
- Experience with Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD, CNC programming, or PLC programming is highly desirable.
Location & details#
- Location: Vonore, Tennessee.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
