About the role#
Joyson Safety Systems is looking for a student engineer to join our team in Auburn Hills. This co-op position provides hands-on experience in the automotive industry by supporting the development and analysis of safety-critical systems and components, including airbags.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development, testing, and research of products, materials, and processes.
- Design and coordinate engineering tests and experiments.
- Create sample requests, validate components for special builds, and support the team with shipping parts to local customers.
- Manage administrative engineering tasks such as creating part numbers, bills of materials, and releasing engineering orders.
- Issue CAD work orders for new drawings or modifications.
- Prepare reports and documentation to communicate technical results to the team.
- Complete basic tasks related to engineering documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a co-op program at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, and Auto CAD.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and build professional relationships.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan.
- Modality: This is an on-site position. Remote work is not available.
- Schedule: 20-40 hours per week, up to 1,248 hours annually.
- Compensation: $23.00-$27.00 per hour, based on academic level.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift 25 lbs and perform tasks requiring standing or walking.
- Travel: May include local travel or trips to facilities in Mexico or Moses Lake, Washington.
