About the role#
Joyson Safety Systems is hiring an Engineering Co-op to work at our Auburn Hills facility. This role offers students the chance to gain practical experience in the automotive industry while supporting the development of safety-critical systems. You will work under direct supervision to assist our engineering team with product analysis, testing, and documentation.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development and analysis of products, materials, processes, and equipment.
- Compile, analyze, and test data for new and modified airbag systems.
- Create sample requests for customer orders and validate components for special builds.
- Design and coordinate engineering tests and experiments.
- Manage administrative engineering tasks, including creating part numbers, bills of materials, and releasing engineering orders.
- Issue CAD work orders for new drawings or modifications.
- Prepare reports to communicate technical results to the team.
- Support the team with shipping parts and delivering samples to local customers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a co-op program at an accredited college or university as a full-time student.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, and Auto CAD.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team and manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
- Capacity to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and work on-site.

- Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 24 hours per week (three 8-hour days).
- Term: Rolling.
- Compensation: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on academic level and degree candidacy.
