About the role#
The PR and Social Media Internship at J/PR is a hybrid learning and mentorship program. This role provides an integrated experience for students to engage with the public relations and social media marketing industry. You will work with account teams to support client campaigns, research trends, and assist with media and influencer relations. This is a paid internship for Winter 2027 that requires a 16-hour weekly commitment.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on industry trends, articles, and social media topics.
- Assist in gathering information for pitches and drafting press materials.
- Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions for story angles and partnerships.
- Perform data entry for weekly reporting and client updates.
- Learn to navigate industry tools including Muck Rack, Meltwater, and Tagger.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Barcelona Principles scoring.
- Create Instagram stories using Canva and assist with content calendar requests.
- Research influencers for content shoots and source user-generated content for community management.
- Manage digital filing within client content archives.
- Provide administrative support for media and influencer relations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant college or university program (Communications, Marketing, or Journalism) to receive academic credit.
- Junior or senior standing.
- Ability to commute to one of our primary offices in San Diego, Los Angeles, New York, Denver, or Nashville.
- Commitment to a 16-hour weekly schedule, including a 16-hour training program at the start of the internship.
- Proficiency in Google Drive, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel within a Mac OS environment.
- Familiarity with AP writing style.
- Foundational knowledge of the media landscape, journalism, or social media marketing.
- Ability to work as a self-starter in a hybrid environment.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.

- Locations: San Diego, CA; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; Denver, CO; or Nashville, TN.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (16 hours per week, with in-office requirements).
- Compensation: Paid stipend upon completion of the internship.
- Eligibility: Applicants must possess work authorization without the need for employer sponsorship.
