About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at ITT, you will join our team for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on the development of electrical connectors designed for harsh environments in aerospace and defense applications. Throughout the summer, you will receive guidance and mentorship from our experienced design engineers while participating in the full product development lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Interpret customer requirements and regulatory constraints to define project scope, hours, and schedules.
- Develop early-stage concepts and create 3D CAD models.
- Present design concepts during Preliminary Design Reviews and adjust designs based on team feedback.
- Finalize 3D models and produce 2D drawings.
- Collaborate with procurement to select vendors, request quotes, and source prototypes.
- Develop Design Validation Test plans and provide technical assistance during testing.
- Analyze test results to determine if further design iterations are needed.
- Coordinate with Engineering Documentation to release final designs.
- Follow all safety policies, participate in training, and conduct job safety analyses.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering program (BS, MS, or PhD) in good standing.
- Understanding of basic mechanical and electrical design principles.
- Familiarity with CAD software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to continue degree program enrollment after the internship ends.
- Status as a U.S. person as defined by ITAR regulations.
- Experience with CNC machining and injection molding design is preferred.
- Knowledge of metals, plastics, and rubber materials is helpful.

- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week from May to August 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: The hourly pay range for this position is $22.69 to $33.85.
