This internship offers an opportunity to support bipartisan democracy reform and gain hands-on experience in policy development, advocacy, and election administration. Interns work closely with the Policy team to defend free and fair elections and strengthen election systems. This is a part-time, paid position for the Fall 2026 semester.
What you'll do#
- Assist the team in implementing plans to advance bipartisan democracy reform and strengthen election administration systems.
- Conduct research on election-related policy, including redistricting, litigation, and evolving election laws.
- Monitor breaking news and investigate stories within the election space.
- Lead specific projects while providing regular progress updates to the team.
- Support organizational reach by creating content and assisting with outreach and list-building campaigns.
- Schedule and attend relevant meetings and public events, coordinating logistics and following up with stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program or recent graduation.
- Demonstrated interest in policy development, political advocacy, and democracy reform.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Capacity to adapt to new projects and program needs.
- Passion for election protection and administration issue areas.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC area preferred.
- Modality: Hybrid. On-site work in the Washington, DC office is expected on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for local interns. Remote options are available for residents of specific states: CA, CO, LA, MD, MA, MO, NJ, NC, RI, UT, and VA.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 14 through December 18, 2026).
- Compensation: $18.40 per hour for 15–25 hours per week.
