About the role#
This internship focuses on using machine learning and data analysis to improve how energy storage is modeled in power system studies. You will work within the Advanced Technology Solutions department on projects that support a reliable, flexible, and innovative electric grid. This is a hands-on position for a PhD student interested in the intersection of power systems, machine learning, and grid innovation.
What you'll do#
- Analyze historical storage behavior using data science techniques.
- Develop insights to support more accurate storage modeling for grid planning.
- Contribute to research projects and design or process improvements.
- Translate complex analysis into clear technical findings.
- Apply AI-assisted analysis to real operational data to enhance modeling practices.
What you'll need#
- PhD background in power systems, operations research, machine learning, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Python and libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Ability to work with large datasets.
- Curiosity and problem-solving skills.
- An interest in using AI to solve real-world energy challenges.
