About the role#
This is a work study position at Marshalltown Community College for the Fall 2026 semester. You will work 8-10 hours per week helping fellow students grasp course concepts and skills. The role involves both one-on-one and small-group sessions held in the Student Success Center.
What you'll do#
- Guide students through course material during scheduled sessions.
- Assist students in the Student Success Center who are not part of your specific tutoring group.
- Maintain accurate records by completing a tutor log for every session.
- Submit your timesheet by the deadline for each pay period.
- Keep the SSC Office Associate informed regarding any absences, cancellations, or changes to your schedule.
- Direct students seeking tutoring to the Student Success Center to complete an application.
- Refer students who identify a disability-related need to the Learning Services Specialist.
- Provide feedback to staff about program improvements or issues.
- Check your student email at least every other day for important announcements.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the course you plan to tutor with a grade of B or higher.
- Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher (a 2.5 GPA is preferred).
