About the role#
The Fall 2026 English Cafe Intern will support the Immigrant Youth team in Miami by facilitating language practice sessions for youth and adults. This role focuses on helping clients improve their English skills in a supportive, multicultural environment. This is an unpaid internship opportunity requiring a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for at least 3 consecutive months.
What you'll do#
- Lead several weekly English Cafe sessions to help youth and adults practice conversational English.
- Prepare topics, materials, and talking points for each session.
- Plan and schedule the English Cafe program.
- Assist with outreach to local organizations to establish community partnerships.
- Support promotional efforts to engage clients in the program.
- Help with data collection and tracking related to session attendance.
What you'll need#
- Fluency in both English and Spanish.
- A strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multicultural setting.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Passion for language education and interest in international issues.
- Proficiency with computer systems and access to the internet.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must pass a background check.
- Relevant academic background in English, Communications, Psychology, International Relations, or Sociology is preferred.
