About the role#
The Fund Internship Program (FIP) provides PhD students in economics an opportunity to contribute to the work of the International Monetary Fund. You will spend 10 to 12 weeks at the IMF Headquarters in Washington, D.C. This is a full-time, paid position requiring 40 hours of work per week. Interns work alongside experienced economists to address policy and operational challenges.
What you'll do#
- Complete an individual research or project assignment.

What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a PhD program in macroeconomics or a related field, with one to two years remaining until completion.
- You must be a student during the internship and return to your studies afterward.
- Age under 32 as of June 2027 (exceptions exist for mandatory military service).
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and computer skills.
- Submission of a completed technical questionnaire.
