    About the role#

    International Justice Mission is seeking Government Relations and Advocacy Interns and Fellows for Summer 2027. This role focuses on building relationships with policy makers to advocate for foreign aid and policies that confront violence against the global poor. You will work to mobilize IJM’s constituency and represent the organization at network meetings. This is a full-time, paid position based in the District of Columbia with a hybrid work structure.

    What you'll do#

    • Build relationships with policy makers and advocate for IJM policies.
    • Mobilize and grow the IJM constituency.
    • Draft training content and provide logistical support for NGO trainings.
    • Evaluate and upgrade existing NGO training materials.
    • Develop content for community relations programs and campaigns.
    • Track monthly targets and maintain community relations documentation.
    • Assist in planning and executing advocacy team events.
    • Provide administrative support to the community relations team.
    • Represent IJM at government and NGO network meetings.

    What you'll need#

    • A bachelor's degree is required for interns; fellows must have at least 3 years of work experience or a master's degree.
    • At least one prior professional internship or significant leadership experience in campus, volunteer, or community organizations.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft software including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Professional experience networking with NGOs, faith-based communities, or government entities is preferred for fellows.
    • Fluency in Spanish is required for positions in Latin America offices.
    • A mature orthodox Christian faith.
    • Personal traits including resilience, humility, a service ethic, and the ability to solve problems independently.
