    About the role#

    As a Module Engineering PhD Intern within the F25 Metals organization, you will work alongside engineers, technicians, and operations teams. You will support the high volume manufacturing of semiconductor technologies. This internship provides hands-on experience with real-world engineering and operational challenges in a manufacturing environment.

    What you'll do#

    • Own and execute a project focused on areas such as process improvement, manufacturing efficiency, equipment performance, automation, data analytics, quality systems, or operational excellence.
    • Lead your project from problem definition through execution and final presentation.
    • Participate in day-to-day engineering activities and engage with cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Observe manufacturing workflows, analyze data, identify improvement opportunities, and communicate recommendations.
    • Explore the organization through networking, mentorship, training, and collaboration.
    • Apply structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • At least 3 months of educational, research, laboratory, internship, or industry experience.
    • Academic coursework or research experience in semiconductor processing, materials science, microelectronics, advanced materials, or a related field.
    • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Python, JMP, MATLAB, Power BI, Excel, or SQL.
    • Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies like root cause analysis, 8D, SPC, Pareto analysis, Design of Experiments, Lean, or Six Sigma.
    • Ability to break down complex problems into executable plans and manage multiple priorities.
    • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including experience creating technical documentation or reports.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop data-driven recommendations.

    • Location: Hillsboro, Oregon.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (minimum 10 to 12 weeks).
