About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a Summer 2027 program. You will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This is a full-time, paid internship lasting 10 to 12 weeks. You will gain hands-on experience supporting real project work across industrial, manufacturing, and MEP-focused sectors.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design portions of mechanical systems while following code and company standards.
- Research commercially available equipment resources.
- Support client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation.
- Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, and other cross-functional teams.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and provide services required by contract agreements.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skills in AutoCAD or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Clear oral and written communication skills.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Columbus, Twinsburg, or Toledo, Ohio.
- The program runs for 10 to 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
- This is a full-time position.
