Machine Learning Research Intern

About the role#

This 10-week summer internship offers the opportunity to work as a Quant Researcher at IMC. You will collaborate with mentors to explore research ideas and build custom analysis tools with the potential for production deployment. Interns who meet performance expectations may be considered for a full-time Graduate Researcher position upon completion of the program.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with Quant Researchers on projects with business impact.
• Develop research skills through ongoing support and feedback from mentors and intern leads.
• Enhance your understanding of options theory, market making, algorithm complexity, and trade analysis through classroom-based instruction.
• Participate in professional development sessions.
• Attend a full schedule of events and social activities to connect with your cohort and employees.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an advanced degree program (such as a PhD) in an applied technical field, including Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or Mathematics, with an expected graduation between September 2027 and July 2028.
• Direct experience in applying deep learning or an academic track record of publications in a related domain.
• Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, C, or C++ is highly desired.
• A passion for research, solving complex problems, and developing trading intuition.
• Creative, driven, and resilient mindset.
