Outbound Distribution Intern

About the role#

The Outbound Distribution Intern will report to the Director of Distribution and Logistics to support a key process improvement project. This role focuses on enhancing the efficiency of picking and loading operations, with the goal of driving labor savings and optimizing outbound workflows. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Katy, Texas.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate directly with the Director of Distribution and Logistics on outbound process improvement initiatives.
• Interview Distribution Center employees to gain insights into current operational workflows.
• Gather, analyze, and present data related to picking and loading operations to determine the best course of action.
• Review labor costs and functions associated with outbound operations.
• Provide bi-weekly progress reports and publish a final process improvement report for leadership.
• Develop, validate, and train staff on new operating procedures.
• Recommend measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, and service quality.
• Estimate material, time, and staffing requirements for projects based on job specifications.

What you'll need#

• Current student or recent graduate of a university or college, with at least a rising sophomore standing.
• Coursework in Industrial Engineering, Distribution, or Statistics.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Advanced Excel skills are preferred; experience with AutoCAD is considered a plus.
• Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
