Retail Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Retail Pharmacy Intern at Hy-Vee, you will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to provide efficient and friendly service. This role involves managing prescription processing, inventory control, and maintaining a professional, clean pharmacy environment while strictly adhering to state and federal regulations.

What you'll do#

• Fill and process prescriptions in accordance with all state and federal statutes.
• Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
• Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and checking invoices.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
• Report any medication errors to appropriate personnel.
• Assist in training employees and support other areas of the store as needed.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy and current registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
• Ability to perform logical or scientific thinking to solve problems involving abstract and concrete variables.
• Proficiency in arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations.
• Capability to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.
• Visual clarity of vision at distances between 20 inches and 20 feet.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of private medical information and prescription data.
