The Retail Pharmacy Intern role at Hy-Vee, Inc. provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This position is on-site in West Des Moines, Iowa, and involves supporting pharmacy operations under the supervision of a registered pharmacist while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Fill and process prescriptions in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and checking invoices.
- Prepare and affix labels to prescription containers.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Report any medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in training employees and support other areas of the store as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
- Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to solve problems involving abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficiency in arithmetic calculations, including algebraic and geometric applications.
- Ability to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
- Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of customer medical information and pharmacy data.
