This includes working on steering, braking, propulsion, power distribution, sensor systems, and body controls. You will work through the full firmware lifecycle, from board bring-up to production deployment, while collaborating with hardware, software, systems, and safety engineering teams.
What you'll do#
- Design, implement, and test real-time embedded firmware in C++ for automotive-grade microcontrollers.
- Develop reliable communication interfaces such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, and UART.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up and hardware-software co-debugging.
- Root-cause board-level and vehicle-level issues in the field.
- Support manufacturing test development and vehicle software deployment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience writing C, C++, or Rust for microcontrollers.
- A solid understanding of embedded system fundamentals.
- Ability to read schematics.
- Familiarity with Git and working in a Linux development environment.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Bonus: Practical experience with complex physical systems, 32-bit ARM Cortex-M or Cortex-R microcontrollers, and lab tools like oscilloscopes or logic analyzers.
- Bonus: Familiarity with CAN or Ethernet and involvement in student engineering project teams.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
