About the role#
The Summer 2027 Construction Manager Intern works in the field alongside our Construction Managers. You will learn how quality homes are built safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role provides hands-on experience in scheduling trade partners, performing quality inspections, and managing job-site safety. You will follow the homebuilding process from the start of construction through closing.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and assist Construction Managers in overseeing the daily construction of single-family homes and townhomes.
- Help schedule, coordinate, and communicate with trade partners and suppliers.
- Conduct quality control walks at key construction stages and document punch items.
- Monitor job-site safety and cleanliness to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- Assist with coordinating municipal inspections and tracking results.
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and option selections.
- Participate in homebuyer meetings including pre-construction, frame walks, and new-home orientations.
- Use construction management software to update schedules and track progress.
- Complete a capstone project and present your findings to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Building Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- A clear interest in a career in residential construction and field operations.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and walk active job sites.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prior construction or job-site experience is preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with scheduling or construction management software is preferred.
