About the role#
Heron Power is building electronics for the 21st-century grid. As a Graphic Design Intern, you will work with our leadership team to build our brand identity from the ground up. This is a hands-on role where you will create work that gets printed, installed, worn, and shared. We are looking for someone with strong visual instincts who is excited to build a brand rather than just maintain one.
What you'll do#
- Develop graphics, layouts, typography, illustrations, icons, and diagrams for our visual language.
- Create environmental graphics, signage, and wayfinding for our offices and factory.
- Design apparel, swag, stickers, packaging, and other physical brand objects.
- Support the design of presentations, recruiting materials, technical graphics, and social content.
- Develop graphics for events, product launches, factory tours, and trade shows.
- Make complex engineering and energy concepts visually clear and approachable.
- Build templates and brand tools to help us communicate consistently.
- Work with printers, fabricators, and vendors to turn designs into physical products.
- Pitch ideas, make things, and experiment to see what the Heron brand can become.
What you'll need#
- Current student or recent graduate of a graphic design, communication design, or visual design program, or a portfolio demonstrating equivalent ability.
- A portfolio showing strong visual thinking and craft.
- Strong fundamentals in typography, layout, composition, hierarchy, color, and image-making.
- Comfort using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or Figma.
- Interest in brand identity and how visual systems extend across different mediums.
- A willingness to move between big ideas and small details.
- Curiosity, low ego, and enthusiasm for working with people from different disciplines.
- An interest in rebuilding the American grid and sustainable energy.
- Bonus points for experience with environmental graphics, illustration, photography, motion, 3D skills, or designing physical merchandise.
- Interest in industrial design, architecture, manufacturing, or technology.
- Experience preparing artwork for print or working with fabricators.
