About the role#
As a Commissioning Intern, you will support building commissioning and retro-commissioning activities across the design, construction, acceptance, and post-occupancy phases. You will work under the guidance of experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience with building systems and project delivery. This is a full-time, paid internship scheduled from May 24, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field observations and testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and fire/life safety systems.
- Review drawings, specifications, equipment submittals, and project documentation.
- Help develop and complete commissioning checklists, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance tests.
- Assist with testing, adjusting, and balancing activities under supervision.
- Troubleshoot building systems and document system performance, equipment conditions, and deficiencies.
- Prepare site observation reports, issue logs, and commissioning deliverables.
- Coordinate site visits and testing activities with project teams and contractors.
- Attend commissioning, construction, and client meetings.
- Participate in company training sessions and professional development activities.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or building systems.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency or interest in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or building automation systems.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for project site travel.
- Ability to work in both office and active construction site environments, including standing for extended periods and climbing ladders.
