About the role#
The Software Engineer & Business Systems Intern supports technology, process improvement, and business systems initiatives at Gulf Management. This role provides hands-on experience with software applications, data analysis, and automation tools. It is suited for students or recent graduates interested in software development, business analysis, and digital transformation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of business applications and internal systems.
- Create and enhance web-based tools, databases, and automated processes.
- Participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and quality assurance activities.
- Gather and document business requirements from stakeholders.
- Learn and apply software development and technology best practices.
- Use AI tools to assist with research, coding, prototyping, and workflow improvements.
- Collaborate with departments such as Operations, Human Resources, Accounting, and Safety.
What you'll need#
- Basic understanding of software development concepts and business systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, or C#.
- Ability to learn quickly and work in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience through coursework, personal projects, or extracurricular activities related to software development or data analysis.

- Location: Covington, Louisiana.
- This is an on-site position. Out-of-state applicants will not be considered.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
