About the role#
Group One Trading is seeking interns to support operations on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. This program provides exposure to the options industry and the fundamentals of market making. Successful interns may be considered for the full-time Trading Analyst class, which serves as a path toward becoming a Junior Trader and eventually a Group One Trader.
What you'll do#
- Support daily operations on the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
- Anticipate trader needs and complete tasks quickly.
- Resolve position discrepancies before the opening bell.
- Monitor and report unexpected position changes to trading staff throughout the day.
- Filter and prioritize information for management and trading teams.
- Communicate needs to IT, vendors, clearing firms, brokers, and other market makers using IM, telephone, and email.
- Learn to use applications for market research, analytical data, order entry, and execution.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student during the Fall 2027 semester.
- Academic background in mathematics, economics, physics, engineering, or computer science.
- Strong math, probability, and game theory skills.
- Proficiency with computers and some programming experience.
- Ability to maintain awareness in critical situations and shift between market conditions efficiently.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management habits.

- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June through August).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: 30 to 35 dollars per hour.
