About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a professional technology environment. You will work in an in-office setting alongside members of the Systems and Desktop Engineering teams. The role focuses on bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world IT operations. You will be treated as an active contributor while gaining exposure to the infrastructure that supports equity options trading.
What you'll do#
- Complete an initial orientation to learn about our business and infrastructure.
- Follow a structured training plan covering system monitoring, user support workflows, and core infrastructure concepts.
- Learn how Systems, Desktop, and Application Support teams work together.
- Perform user workstation setup, software installations, and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist with system monitoring and incident response under guidance.
- Diagnose common desktop, application, and connectivity issues.
- Write or modify simple scripts for system checks, data collection, or workflow automation.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams supporting production trading systems.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Coursework or hands-on experience with Windows operating systems and computer hardware.
- Introductory understanding of networking concepts like TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Exposure to or interest in scripting or automation using tools like PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Interest in systems, infrastructure, and enterprise IT operations.
- Strong curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with technical and non-technical teammates.

- Compensation: $35 per hour.
- Commitment: Minimum 25 hours per week.
