About the role#
This internship offers students hands-on experience within the corporate accounting team at Group 1 Automotive. You will work alongside accounting professionals to support the financial integrity of the organization. This role provides exposure to the day-to-day operations of a large, publicly traded company while you develop practical technical and analytical skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist with general accounting processes and daily activities.
- Participate in month-end financial close tasks.
- Perform account reconciliations and research discrepancies.
- Support financial analysis, reporting, and the preparation of financial information.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends or variances.
- Conduct research for special projects and process improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Accounting, Finance, or related degree program.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A willingness to learn, ask questions, and take on new responsibilities.
